Upon its release in 1971, "Africa's Blood" was the first record Lee "Scratch" Perry released under his own name, although his band The Upsetters features on most of the tracks. If any album offers a good overview of the Jamaican music scene of the early 1970s, it's "Africa's Blood." The influence of American R&B is unmistakable, yet Perry's signature dub and reggae fusion shines through. This reissue is a limited edition of 1000 individually numbered copies pressed on purple vinyl, making the record look as vibrant as it sounds.
