1978 original LP! The Flys were an imaginative four-piece band that existed in this underworld on the fringes of new wave—known for lack of a better term as power pop. At their best, The Flys combined great lead guitar lines, a lush sound, catchy melodies and original musical ideas. The title track is the best example with some distinctive guitar and vocal rhythms.

The Ethiopians were one of Jamaica's most popular bands in the late ska, rocksteady and early reggae era. They were founded by Leonard Dillon, Stephen Taylor and Aston Morrison and recorded several hit singles including "Train To Skaville" and "Owe Me No Pay Me". When their third album was released, reggae music changed from rough and fast to a softer and slower level. With the soft vocals and organ sound in the background, they recorded Woman Capture Man. The album was produced by J.J. Johnson, who had a major influence on Jamaican ska and rocksteady music during the 1960s. The Crack was founded in 1982 and did not release their debut album until 1989. These British punks were often used with the Oi! Scene in the mid-80s along with Cockney called Rejects and The Business, but had more in common with the melodic punk stylings of 999 and mod groups like The Jam or Secret Affair. With a glowing wall of guitars and biting melodies, from the classic album opener 'My World' to the raw closer 'The Giddy House', The Crack delivers ten fantastic original songs that are firmly rooted in 1980s British anthem punk but also have a pop corner.

New release on orange vinyl from Grover Records to 250 pieces! A CD is included with the whole thing. "Funky reggae for the working class", is how THE CAROLOREGIANS describe themselves. The Belgians prove on their second longplayer on Grover that a cool reggae and ska troupe does not need any winds. The focus is on guitar and organ work without degrading the craftsmanship and artistic work of the remaining musicians. Very positive ly not only that the two soloists work with different sounds in order to create a very special atmosphere for the individual songs. If THE CAROLOREGIANS made their production even dirtier, they could soon be sorted out as dirty reggae contenders on a high level with the AGGROLITES.

The Caroloregians are the sister troupe of the magnificent Moon Invaders, the core of both bands is identical, but the Caroloregians do without blowers and orientthemselves to early reggae and classics like the Upsetters or Harry J. Allstars. Just over half of the tunes consist of the instrumental pieces that were often played at that time, of course with a dominant Hammond organ and, as usual in boss reggae, quite decent tempo. And Fat Is Back is also quite funky. There are also a handful of vocalcuts, sung in the Southern Soul twang of New Orleans-born Matt Hardison. Fat Is Back is fun without end and shows a band that adheres quite strictly to the Boss Reggae rule, but builds all sorts of inductions so subtly that it is a single joy.

Guided by the enchanting voice and unleashing energy of the attractive and charismatic riot girl Ciara Thompson, the band remains true to the likes of rhythm'n'blues and soul music, but in the process pushes the Buttshakers typical untamed and wild style on which we love so much. Influences such as Sly and the Family Stone, Charles Bradley, Sharon Jones, Etta James, Marvin Gaye are obvious in their songs and are inspired by the Motown sound of the 60s. Always soulful and full of infectious energy, The Buttshakers are able to catch every audience. The Business was formed during this time by Micky Fitz on vocals, Steve Kent on guitar, Martin Smith on bass and Nick Cunningham on drums. The most surprising aspect of this period is the contrast between the usual street punk sound of some songs that sound closer to the mod revival bands than other punk-oi! bands of that time. The A side contains 7-inch tracks that were officially released (on singles and compilation LPs), while the B side contains the band's demo recordings. This release includes an inner sleeve with information compiled from all of the recording sessions on this album, as well as previously unreleased footage.

Listening to this finely crafted collection of the early works of the Blues Busters in terms of sound and visual, you can well understand why the duo was chosen to represent Jamaica at the 1964 New York World Exhibition and to ensure that ska is brought into the American mainstream. As you know, this didn't work out at first, but it certainly didn't matter to Philipp James and Lloyd Osbourne Campbell, because although these recordings date back to the early sixties, when the Jamaican music industry was still in its infancy, they already sound surprisingly perfect. Unfortunately, both died far too early, in 1989 and 1991, and did not experience the late appreciation.

Founding member Dave Wakeling presents his edition of The Beat as the first studio album since the band's dissolution in 1982 – Here We Go Love is a collection of 13 new and lively songs, with a perfect combination of contemporary sound and the timeless classics that made the band famous. "In addition to the live band, which provides a great groove on the album, some guests like Roddy "Radiation" Byers (The Specials, The Skabilly Rebels), Train guitarist Luis Maldonado and backing singer Durga McBroom, Kevin Williams and Jelani Jones are worth mentioning. Born out of the ashes of previous projects together, Appetizers from Milan shared a desire to play authentic Jamaican music together. Entirely self-produced and recorded during the tough times of 2020, the LP was eventually released on wax by Badasonic Records. It features ten original tunes ranging from sweet rocksteady ("Pick Up The Pieces", "Wondering", "Fancy Make Up") to funk/New Orleans-inspired jams ("Dem Talk", "The Message", " Ol' Louis") and early reggae scorchers ("Walk The Long Way", "Pressure", "Tears"). As a bonus, dub master Victor Rice kindly offered to put his own spin on the "Dub Fruit" instrumental mix.

The second album by the likeable-crazy Scots from 2006. Greetings from The Specials and Madness. So that all this doesn't come across as too well-behaved, Disco (ex-BIS) has provided the necessary bite on the controls. THE AMPHETAMEANIES sound unmistakably like 2Tone from the island and are one of the best neo-2Tone bands with a proper punk rock factor in the world.
